Pelsis Marks Major Milestone with India Visit

Joined by the Pelsis Dudley Plant Manager Neil Wills and Director of Commercial Strategy J Hussain, Dino and the team were hosted by Chakan Plant Manager Rajan Thakur and Head of Global eCommerce Ajay Kumar Jain. Whilst there, the team took part in a number of activities including a factory tour of the new Chakan facility which culminated in a greeting and tree planting ceremony with the head of the local village, formally dedicating the new site. 

Tree planting is an important Hindu tradition that is associated with celebratory events, and symbolises our duty to give back to nature when we build something new on the earth, while also representing prosperity and fruitfulness.

Dino’s visit to the sites in India comes at an important moment in the development of Pelsis’ presence in the region, with the opening of the new factory in Chakan as well as the new eCommerce Centre of Excellence in Pune. This investment is a statement of intent from Pelsis, indicating the importance of India as a centre of production and an important sales channel for the business in the years ahead. 

Rajan Thakur, Plant Manager of Pelsis Chakan, said: “It was a pleasure to host Dino, who spent lot of time on the shop floor meeting the Chakan employees, understanding the CL activities we had implemented so far and what is planned in 2026. Dino also suggested a couple of improvements which we will implement immediately. 

“We also requested that Dino and his team plant trees in our garden area which is considered in our culture as a sacred act that signifies growth, prosperity and the responsibility of leaving a healthy plant for future.” 

Dino Koutrouki, CEO of Pelsis, said: “It was a tremendous honour to take part in the tree planting ceremony to mark the completion of the new Chakan plant, which is also a huge step forward for Pelsis in India. It’s a great new facility and the time I spent with the team on the ground there show it’s in good hands. This was also true of the Centre of Excellence in Pune, which is already making a big difference despite opening recently. 

“The meetings that I had with the teams at the Centre of Excellence and Chakan show that there is excellent scope for growth in India and the wider region, as well as a big part to play for our Indian operations in our global growth, so there is still a lot of work to be done to make all that possible.”
